Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 5, 2026
Privacy is the product. Formation is designed to keep as little of your data as possible, to share location only with the people who need it for the short time they need it, and to never sell your data or build a permanent trail of where you have been. This policy explains what we collect and why.
Who we are
Formation is operated by SyncedUp Solutions LLC, 4613 NW 118th St, Coral Springs, FL 33076, United States. For any privacy question or request, contact admin@syncedupsolutions.com.
What we collect
- Your phone number, used to create your account and sign you in with a one-time code.
- Profile information you choose to add, such as a handle, display name, your vehicles, and photos of your builds.
- Content you create, including posts, messages, meets, clubs, and crews.
- Location while you use navigation or an active convoy. Formation uses your position to show you on the map, calculate and recalculate routes, provide turn-by-turn guidance, and, during a convoy, relay your live position to approved convoy members. See how this works below.
- Search and routing inputs, including an address, place, map pin, planned waypoint, or nearby-place category you choose. Place search may include an approximate location rounded to about 100 meters. Route calculation and rerouting send the points needed for the route, which may include your current position, to a routing provider.
- Aggregate activity totals, such as your total miles driven in convoys and the number of meets you have attended or hosted. These are stored as running totals only.
- A device notification token, if you enable push notifications, so we can alert you about your crews and convoys.
- Crash and error diagnostics, including a pseudonymous device identifier, platform and app version, update identifier, error message and stack, and limited error context. Reports may be associated with your account when you are signed in. Formation redacts phone numbers, email addresses, authentication tokens, and common secret values before a report is sent.
- Voice-guidance text, such as a short maneuver, street name, or convoy callout, when cloud-generated speech is available. On-device speech is used as a fallback.
How navigation and live location work
Location access is off until you grant permission. During solo navigation, your position is used to keep guidance current and may be sent to the routing provider to calculate or recalculate the route. Formation does not store a history of your driven route. During an active convoy, your position is also shared with approved members of that convoy and relayed between devices in encrypted form. Live convoy position is not written to a permanent database. Background access is used only while active navigation or a convoy drive needs to continue with the App backgrounded or the phone locked. When the drive ends, background updates and convoy sharing stop. A master location kill switch and per-drive controls are available in the App.
What we will never do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not keep a permanent record of your live location or route history.
- We do not use third-party advertising SDKs and we do not run location analytics.
- We do not share your precise location with third-party marketers.
Retention and the wipe
Live convoy data, including convoy chat and the live route payload, is ephemeral. It is removed from live systems automatically on a short cycle rather than kept indefinitely. Our Data & retention page explains exactly how this works, what a saved route is, and how legal and moderation holds interact with deletion.
How we share data with service providers
We use a small number of trusted providers to run the App, and we share only what is needed for each to do its job:
- Supabase hosts our database and authentication.
- LiveKit powers real-time convoy voice.
- Twilio sends the one-time sign-in codes to your phone.
- Mapbox provides maps, place search, geocoding, traffic-aware routing, and route calculation when configured.
- OSRM and Photon may provide route calculation and place search when those services are used as fallbacks.
- ElevenLabs converts short navigation instructions and convoy callouts into spoken audio. Generated phrases may be cached in Supabase so the same instruction can be replayed without generating it again.
- Apple and Google deliver push notifications and distribute the App.
We may also disclose information where required to comply with the law, enforce our Terms, or protect the safety of our users and the public.
Your choices and rights
- Location:control access through your device settings and control convoy sharing with the in-app kill switch, safe zones, and “who can see me” settings. Ending navigation or the convoy stops background location use for that drive.
- Access and deletion:you can delete your account and associated data in the App at Settings, Privacy & safety, Delete account. If you no longer have the App, request deletion here.
- Requests: email admin@syncedupsolutions.com to ask about the data associated with your account.
Security
We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit, to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we design Formation to hold as little sensitive data as possible so there is less to protect.
Children
Formation is intended for people 17 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 17.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App evolves. We will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App.
